According to Barilla, only one out of four families eats together every night.

In April, 2008, the brand decided to solve this problem introducing “Barilla Piccolini” pasta, which means “little ones” in Italian. It is the first line of miniature classic Italian pasta shapes.

Barilla Piccolini contains five pasta sorts such as Mini Farfalle, Mini Penne, Mini Wheels and Mini Fusilli. Barilla believes that children should like them for size and shape while parents enjoy a quick cook time of seven minutes and traditional Barilla taste.

The most interesting thing lies in their promo campaign. Barilla has teamed up with children's book publisher Scholastic to create a custom story and activity book about sharing family meals - "Mealtime Magic" (pic.). The idea is quite simple – children should read a story about the magic of family mealtime and explain their parents that they need this magic with Barilla’s pasta.
